Dear Cyrus’ Daddy,

Cyrus got up at 7am this morning. He seemed to sleep okay last night. It was so nice to use web camera to see you. Cyrus didn’t seem to realize that it was you but that’s okay. It’s good for him to hear Daddy’s voice.

After conversation with you, I used the bottled water to make cereal for him. He ate it all. I then Moby him out. I wanted to find the traditional Taiwanese breakfast I like. Sadly, there are more modern/western style breakfast shops, that sell sandwitches, than traditional kind. I went through two shops before I finally found the one I was looking for. I ordered a cup of rice milk and a "rice sandwitch"-rice shaped like a football with pickles and soy products in it. They were freshly made and tasted really good. Cyrus got to see the pot filled with steaming soy milk.

It was around 9am and the street was full of people going to work or college students. It’s nice to be able to walk to get breakfast. There are many vendors selling fresh veggie and fruit. In America, you don’t really see how people start their day because everyone is in a car. Here, you can really feel people are in a hurry to go somewhere.

On the way back home, I stopped by the local temple to let Cyrus see the stone lions, incense, and statue of the God who is supposed to guard this neighborhood.

Though it was supposed to be Cyrus bed time (it’s night time in US), he didn’t sleep until 2pm. He was playing around, watching me organizing my bedroom. I found a whole selection of the stories by H.C. Anderson in Chinese that I bought years ago. I’m bringing it home. They will be nice stories to read to Cyrus.

I wasn’t planning on napping this afternoon but couldn’t help it and fell asleep at 4pm and slept until the dinner was ready. After dinner, we took Cyrus to downtown. We bought two toys for him, one is a firetruck with a ball rolling on top of it when the trcuk is pushed and the other is a ball that makes noises when it’s punched or bounced. He likes both. That ball is Cyrus first Japanese toy, which is more expensive.

We also bought a really cute "Peter Rabbit" outfit with a matching cap. I told the lady at the store that Cyrus has a Peter Rabbit story. She said there is a Peter Rabbit movie coming out. I didn’t know that. I also picked another cap for him so he can wear it in summer. Before we left, the lady asked us if Cyrus is mixed. She said his skin is paler. I’ve noticed it’s cheaper to buy baby’s cloethes in US. Most of them run around 30US. I think they look better made but still a little over-priced.

We then went to a jeans store. My old neighbor is working there. I bought a couple of jeans. Though they are very long, the store does the alteration while you wait and FOR FREE. Can’t get it beat, can you? My neightbor met Cyrus and asked me "is his dad American? He looks mixed." She also said he is handsome.

Cyurs woke up for a little while when I was trying the jeans on. I don’t think he ever saw that many people at one time. He seemed fine though.

I got to have a cup of ice smoothy at the night market. It was smaller than before. How sad!!

On the way back to the car, we saw a really cute traditional Chinese outfit for a baby. It’s a little bit big for him but he looks adorable anyway. That’s going to be his first-day-of-the-new-year outfit. You’ll see the photos.

Miss you, Esther and Cyrus
